There is a new shortlist forming, and most Cyprus owners cannot see it. Before someone searches Google or asks a neighbour, they increasingly ask ChatGPT or Gemini a plain question. "Who does good bodywork near Nicosia." "Best physiotherapist in Larnaca who speaks Greek and English." The AI answers with a few names. If yours is not one of them, the customer never learns you were an option. You do not show up as a lost lead. You show up as nothing.
This is the quiet edge of the Discovery leak. Being unfindable used to mean page two of Google. Now it can mean being left out of the answer entirely, before a search even happens. And because it is invisible, it feels like a slow month rather than a problem you can fix.
The two-minute check
You do not need a tool for this. You need a phone and a few minutes. Open ChatGPT and Gemini, and ask each one the way a real customer would.
- Ask for a recommendation in your trade and town. "Recommend a "your trade" in "your town", Cyprus." Do not name yourself. See who comes up.
- Ask directly about you. "What can you tell me about "your business name"." Notice whether it knows you at all, and whether the details are right.
- Ask a buying question a customer would ask. "Where can I get "the thing you sell" in "your town"." See if you are in the answer.
- Ask in another language. Cyprus searches in Greek, and MENA customers in Arabic. Try the same question again in the language your customers actually use.
Reading the results
Three things can happen. The AI names you correctly, which is the goal. It does not mention you, which means you are invisible for that question. Or it mentions you but gets the facts wrong, stale hours, wrong location, a service you dropped years ago, which can be worse than silence.
The reason behind all three is the same. AI answers are built from clear, consistent, current information about you across the web. A plain website that says what you do and where. A complete Google Business Profile. Matching details everywhere. When that information is thin, outdated, or contradictory, the AI cannot recommend you with confidence, so it names someone it can. This is the heart of AI search visibility and AEO in Cyprus: making yourself legible to the machines that now do the recommending.
We test this on our own business first. Pinelaki, Garo's auto-body shop, had to become findable and describable before we ever fixed it for anyone else. That is the only proof we trust: what worked on us.
If the check turned up silence or wrong facts, that is a leak you can close. The free diagnosis checks exactly this, plus your Answer and Trust, and tells you plainly what is open and what to plug first.
